DESCRIPTION
Professional Expert – Temporary, Short-Term Assignment : Under the direction of Dean of Instruction for Kinesiology and Athletics ensures safety of swim class students by preventing and responding to emergencies.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Scans the area of surveillance to make sure students are safe and behaving in accordance to the rules.
- Responds to emergency situations by providing rescue and first aid assistance up to his / her training level until medical personnel arrive.
- Inspects the aquatic area for unsafe conditions and cleanliness to prevent accidents and reports any hazards to the supervisor.
- Enforces rules consistently and fairly
- Fills out reports for incidents or other records for reference.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Graduation from high school and one year experience acting as in the capacity of a lifeguard.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS :
KNOWLEDGE OF :
Terminology, methods, practices, and techniques in acting as a lifeguard.
Appropriate backstage health, safety, and operational standards.
ABILITY TO :
PHYSICAL EFFORT :
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Work is performed indoors in pool area. Some lifeguards may be required to work evenings.
