Job Title : Commercial & Industrial Mechanical Estimator

Position Overview : We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial & Industrial Mechanical Estimator with expertise in conceptual budgeting to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical systems estimation for commercial and industrial projects, along with the ability to develop accurate conceptual budgets during all stages of project planning. Key Responsibilities :

  • Estimation :

Utilize technical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to prepare accurate and detailed estimates for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and underground utility installations.

  • Analyze project requirements and scope to determine materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive understanding of project needs.
  • Proficiently use on screen take off estimating software and tools to facilitate the estimation process efficiently.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis and risk assessment to mitigate potential discrepancies and uncertainties in estimates.
  • Utilize our CRM tool to Track, report, manage your estimates, clients, and important job pursuit information.
  • Manage Key and Target Accounts and visit them often to build relationships.
  • Prepare estimates and proposals for all contract types including Lump sum, GMP, Cost Plus etc.
  • May supervise Assistant Estimators, Estimating Assistants, and / or interns.
  • Participate in project hand-off to operations to ensure proper transfer of knowledge from Preconstruction to operations.
  • Conceptual Budgeting :

    • Work closely with project stakeholders to develop conceptual budgets during all project phases.

  • Translate high-level project requirements and objectives into preliminary cost projections and budgets.
  • Provide expertise and recommendations on cost-saving measures and value engineering options without compromising project quality.
  • Continuously monitor and update conceptual budgets throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating changes and adjustments, as necessary.
  • Documentation and Reporting :

    • Prepare detailed and organized documentation of estimates, conceptual budgets, and associated project information.

  • Present estimates and budgets to clients, management, and project teams in a clear and concise manner.
  • Generate reports and analysis to track project costs, identify trends, and provide insights for decision-making purposes, including estimator key performance indicators.
  • Collaboration and Communication :

    • Foster collaborative relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to gather relevant information and ensure accuracy in estimates and budgets.

  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to address inquiries, provide clarification, and manage expectations regarding cost-related matters.

    • Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience (10 years) in UNION commercial and industrial mechanical estimation, with a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and underground utility installations.
  • Proficiency in utilizing estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, FastEst, and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop conceptual budgets and cost projections for complex construction projects.
  • Proven to have completed at least (10) Desing / Build pursuits.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and standards related to mechanical systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
