About the unit

The Mother Baby Unit is a thirty-two-bed maternal and newborn unit which focuses on the care of the postpartum mother newborn and the whole family. We offer baby portraits to be taken on site interpreter services as well as we encourage rooming in with the baby to promote family bonding. Our caring and compassionate team provides support guidance and care assisting with breastfeeding bottle feeding newborn care as well as postpartum care for mom. Our care team consists of obstetricians pediatricians nurses nurse assistants and nurse techs. We also have a robust Lactation team to support mothers that also includes off-shift and weekend coverage. Our Social work department offers support education and resources as well. Our mother baby unit is a secured unit that uses an infant security system. Our experienced staff will help you prepare for bringing baby home.

Scope of work

Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice. Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care. Facilitates the admission discharge and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

Previous hospital or nursing home experience Preferred

Current CNA certification Preferred
