Summary Description
The Material Handler / Purchasing Agent is responsible for the accurate handling, storage, and movement of materials, as well as procuring supplies, equipment, and services in a timely and cost-effective manner. This role ensures materials are readily available for production, inventory levels are maintained, and purchasing activities comply with company policies and vendor agreements.
Material Handling Duties
Receive, inspect, and tag incoming materials.
Load, unload, and move materials to designated areas.
Organize and maintain inventory in warehouse and storage locations.
Prepare and stage materials for production or shipment.
Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory audits.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Purchasing Duties
Source and purchase materials, supplies, and equipment according to specifications and budget requirements.
Coordinate delivery schedules with vendors.
Create and issue purchase orders using company software.
Monitor and track orders to ensure on-time delivery.
Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
Qualifications
High school diploma required, education beyond high school preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in material handling, industrial purchasing, or a related field.
Working knowledge of purchasing and inventory controls.
Proficiency with inventory management and purchasing software.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
