PRIMARY PURPOSE :

Responsible for managing the vehicle maintenance parts supply and inventory for district fleet vehicles and support efficient vehicle repair and maintenance operations.

QUALIFICATIONS : Education :

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas commercial driver's license (Class B) with "P" and "S" endorsements (must obtain within 90 days of employment.

Special Knowledge / Skills :

Proficient computer skills

Knowledge of auto parts and terminology

Ability to use vehicle fleet maintenance software program

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to maintain records and work with other auxiliary personnel in a positive and cooperative manner

Maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety

Must pass annual district physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety

Must pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law

Proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Experience :

Three (3) years of auto / truck maintenance and / or repair parts experience (preferred)

Bus driving experience (preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Tools / Equipment Used : Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; forklift or hydraulic lifting equipment; small hand tools; light truck or van

Posture : Frequent standing, kneeling / squatting, bending / stooping, pushing / pulling, and twisting

Motion : Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent walking, climbing ladders; grasping / squeezing, wrist flexion / extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting : Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment : Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; may work alone; occasional prolonged or irregular hours

Mental Demands : Maintain emotional control under stress
