TITLE : Estimator / Project Manager (Structural Demolition)
COMPANY TYPE : Environmental remediation and demolition firm
LOCATION : Iowa
Our client is hiring a highly experienced Estimator / Project Manager (EPM) to work out of their Iowa office. This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in bidding and managing demolition work. Industrial experience—such as power plants, rail, mills, and refineries—is a plus.
Position Summary : The Estimator / Project Manager will review blueprints, bid specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects or services. This role also involves planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure goals are met within prescribed time frames and budgets. The EPM will conduct onsite job visits to monitor project progress, champion safety compliance, and ensure adherence to all city, state, and federal regulations.
Essential Job Functions :
Review project proposals / plans to determine timelines, funding limitations, and resource allocation.
Calculate job costs based on materials, supplies, and labor; prepare job estimates.
Support and enforce safety compliance, acting as a safety champion, and communicate safety plans to the Safety Director in a timely manner.
Submit change orders, budgets, cost codes, cost reporting, purchase orders, and related paperwork promptly.
Conduct regular site visits to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
Coordinate with supervisors to prioritize work plans, assign duties, and monitor delegated activities.
Provide leadership, feedback, and recognition to team members; encourage skills development and process improvements.
Implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
Maintain awareness of market trends and competition to inform decision-making.
Promote a respectful, harassment-free, and inclusive work environment.
Travel may be required.
Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years’ demolition field experience (required).
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing projects from bid through completion.
Proven financial and budgetary skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with diverse teams and clients.
Adaptable in dynamic work environments with shifting priorities.
