What your job will be like :
Are you looking to join a team of high performing professionals, who are focused, driven and motivated to deliver on projects that are on the cutting edge of scientific discovery? If so, consider joining Jefferson Lab as the Project Management Office Director. Reporting to the Deputy Lab Director for Operations & Chief Operating Officer, you will lead a world class team of project controllers, risk analysts, project managers and project management training professionals to support the lab's projects. You will also partner with leaders and staff from across the lab to ensure projects are successfully executed and present results to both external and internal stakeholders on the status of the project support capabilities.
In this role you will :
- Monitor projects, programs and portfolio to ensure compliance with project policies and standards as well as keeping to schedules, budgets and quality expectations
- Set Project Management Office (PMO) support priorities by partnering with project managers throughout the lab
- Create center of excellence that aligns with DOE Order .3B, Project Management Institute (PMI) guidelines, and other best practices
- Develop and maintain training programs, document templates, and guides to ensure all Jefferson Lab projects managers and project team members have ready access to necessary resources and can effectively apply the lab's management policies, procedures, workflows, and tools
- Work with leadership to identify and develop a pipeline of capable project managers and support staff
- Develop and distribute frequent communication to enhance lab wide awareness of project management skills, best practices, and lessons learned
- Develop strategy for PMO growth and continuous improvement that aligns with the Lab Strategy
- Design and maintain a repository of all project artifacts that provides for immediate access by all project team members with rigorous change control
