Project Engineer Substation / Transmission Project Management

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating engineering consultants, administering project contracts, acquiring necessary project resources, reviewing design specifications for compliance with OUC standards, and representing OUC in negotiations with internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for a well-rounded engineer with strong stakeholder management, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects from concept to completion.

The ideal candidate will have :

• Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence project direction and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Proven ability to lead and deliver complex substation and transmission projects with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
• Strong technical expertise in substation layout, transmission design (overhead and underground), and system protection
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and align internal teams, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Proficiency in project planning and execution, including permitting, design review, and contractor coordination
• A flexible, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities and a drive to contribute in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
• Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project); familiarity with AutoCAD, PLS CAD, and Primavera is a plus
• Advanced certification in Power Systems and registration as a Professional Engineer are preferred

Salary Range : $99,360 - $149,040 annually - commensurate with experience

Job Purpose : Manage electric substation capital improvement projects to meet OUC customer needs in the most safe, reliable, and cost efficient manner. Perform review of engineering consultants' transmission and substation design specifications to ensure compliance with OUC standards and desired project outcome. Represent and negotiate OUC interests with consultants, vendors, contractors, developers, utilities, governmental agencies and industry working groups.

Working Conditions : This job may be exposed outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, insects, work in confined places, and wet, humid conditions (non-weather).

Physical Requirements : This job requires standing, walking, sitting, bending / stooping, reaching over head, and may lift up to forty (40) pounds. This job requires speaking and hearing, repetitive motions, typing, writing, detailed inspection, and may drive a company vehicle.
