Department : Security
Title : Security Guard

Status : Non-Exempt
Grade Level : Hourly
Pay : $16.50 per hour
Reports To : Supervisor
Schedule : Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available. Hours : 9 : 30 am-6 : 30 pm, schedule subject to change through the spring and summer due to Needs of the Department. Must be able to perform overtime when needed.
Position Summary : Security Guards ensure that our staff, guests, and animal collection enjoy a safe experience at Wildlife Conservation Society parks.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Presenting professionalism in uniform while assisting guests that are seeking information, medical assistance or other aid and in a courteous manner
- Communicating clearly using a portable radio
- Following instructions and orders from Security Management and other competent authority
- Completing the Security Officer's Daily Activity Report
- Will be required to remain at a fixed post, a roving post covering a designated area and entrance / exit gates, as needed
- Monitoring building conditions for overcrowding, disorderly persons and prohibited items inside exhibits.
- Completing other assignments as required and helping others on the team.
Qualification Requirements
Qualifications :
Must possess a valid New York State Security License
Must possess a valid 8 hour & 16 hour training certificate
Basic verbal communication skills
Presenting a neat, clean and professional appearance
Dependability and reliability
Basic math skills
Basic computer skills
