Technology Specialists in WilmerHale's intellectual property ("IP") practice are involved in various tasks supervised by attorneys, including patent prosecution, client counseling, opinions, patent litigation, and IP transactional matters. Responsibilities include working with inventors, preparing patent applications, conducting searches, assisting with legal opinions, reviewing patent histories, and participating in special projects.

We seek candidates with a bachelor's and advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields. Focus on artificial intelligence and experience with deep learning models, including transformer architectures, are a plus.

As part of WilmerHale's Technology Specialist Program, candidates are expected to attend an ABA-accredited law school in the evening, obtain a law degree in four years, and pass the USPTO patent bar exam to become registered as a patent agent. Opportunities for summer associate positions and tuition reimbursement are available. Candidates should have strong academic credentials and communication skills. Prior patent law experience or registration is not required.

The salary ranges are as follows :

• Not in School : $130,000
• 1st Year in School : $150,000
• 2nd Year in School : $160,000
• 3rd Year in School : $170,000
• 4th Year in School : $215,000
