Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering Functional Homeroom Section Manager to join our NorCal team at Cyber & Information Solutions (C&IS) Business Unit.
In this role, you will provide functional homeroom management of a team of systems engineers supporting various efforts within the Systems Engineering portfolio with about 20% of your workload. Separately from this position, you will be expected to maintain a technical lead or individual contributor role on a program, which is expected to be roughly 80% of your workload.
Specific responsibilities include :
- Lead team of 10-15 systems engineers with grade level ranging from T01 through T06, including college and high school interns.
- Provide personnel with career development, employee engagement, mentoring and coaching.
- Coordinate with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance evaluations to employees, evaluating / recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary.
- Forecast and lead workload for each team member.
- Develop and improve personnel and organizational technical skills.
- Work with Human Resources to mediate and resolve personnel issues.
- Ensure process alignment through the work of direct reports, support program milestone reviews and deep dives, and assists in development and implementation of division objectives.
- Work closely with managers of other engineering disciplines, program managers, and IPT leads.
- Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the division and sector.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Demonstrate abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills are required.

Primary Level Salary Range : $156,500.00 - $234,700.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
