The ideal candidate is a demonstrated leader with experience successfully managing the flow of resources through an assembly manufacturing plant, who has a proven track record of strong employee relations, and is detail orientated. The successful candidate will have creative problem-solving skills, a well-rounded manufacturing and logistics background, the ability to energize and develop effective teams, an interest in new manufacturing technologies, a desire to drive process improvements, and an enjoyment of a collaborative fast paced work environment. This person must also be safety oriented and quality driven.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of the goods.
- Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect production problems.
- Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
- Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff or resolve personnel grievances.
- Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records.
- Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
- Develop budgets or approve expenditures for supplies, materials, or human resources, ensuring that materials, labor, or equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
- Initiate or coordinate inventory or cost control programs.
- Coordinate or recommend procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines.
- Responsible for continuous improvement, quality, safety, workplace respect, and employee skill development.
- Works with Management team to set staff goals and expectations; measures performance, re-sets goals to support Company objectives. Ability to see the larger picture.
- Responsible for ensuring company policies, procedures, and performance requirements are being met. Responds appropriately if department personnel do not comply with Company policy and / or procedures.
- Core participant in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and related methodologies.
