About the role This position is responsible for the research, development, and application of Firmware / hardware as it relates to new and existing products for the residential market. The individual will primarily work on developing wiring devices such as receptacle, lighting controls, breakers, etc. As required, this position may encompass the following steps of the product life cycle : specification, design, implementation, testing, release, and manufacturing support. The Embedded Firmware Engineer works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities Write and maintain firmware for new and existing products Analyzes marketing and engineering data to determine software feasibility of product proposal Coordinates with product and project management personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops efficient coded design Develops technical specifications and identifies test requirements for products Prepares product or system software, block diagrams and object code utilizing engineering group input Coordinates and checks BOM and MRP requirements with appropriate departments Participates as needed to fabricate engineering prototype Implements process improvements to decrease time to market of new and existing products This position requires a motivated, creative engineer with the ability to design a variety of new products from concept through production release Must be adaptable and have excellent decision-making skills and the engineering level Help to develop an open environment where all input is received and valued Qualifications Must know C for embedded applications. Familiarity with python and linux is a plus. Experience is hardware tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes. Experience in designing firmware using 16 / 32 microcontrollers and ARM processors Ability to read and interpret schematics and PCB layout. Ability to work through low level hardware issues and board bring up Has understanding of RTOS concepts and expertise in designing event driven real time firmware Experience in designing firmware for CAN, BLE, UART, SPI, I2C or other communication protocols Experience in wireless protocols like BLE, Matter or WiFi is a plus Experience in developing products for following applications is a plus Lighting controls – dimming and sensory Personal protection technologies such as AFCI / GFCI USB power delivery Education & Experience Bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other engineering related fields 2-5 years’ experience in Embedded hardware & software engineering; design & development of new products Familiarity with industry practices and tools in the implementation of embedded hardware and software technology What We Offer Comprehensive benefits include : Medical, dental, and vision insurance programs 401K plans with employer-matching contributions Tuition reimbursement PTO Paid holidays Volunteer time off
