Quality Inspector
We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Quality Inspector with deep experience in structural steel buildings, metal enclosures, and electrical houses. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of high-voltage, blast-proof, and fire-proof structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UBC and IBC codes, metal building standards, and TDLR certification processes, and will be directly involved in inspections, welding assessments, and blueprint verification.
Responsibilities
Inspect steel buildings, electrical houses, and large metal structures for compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and building codes (UBC, IBC, ASCE).
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections throughout construction to ensure structural integrity and alignment with design intent.
Apply knowledge of metal fabrication, welding processes, and CWI standards to assess quality, especially for insulated walls, roofing, and flooring.
Verify structures against blueprints and ensure proper application of building codes.
Inspect installation and integration of electrical systems inside metal enclosures.
Ensure adherence to manufacturer specifications and design drawings.
Take proactive measures based on lessons learned to prevent recurring issues.
Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement in product design or execution.
Maintain clear communication with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams.
Foster a collaborative relationship with other quality team members.
Promote strong HSE practices at the manufacturing site.
Participate in safety audits and contribute to a culture of safety and accountability.
Essential Skills
Minimum 5 years of proven hands-on experience in structural steel building inspection.
Deep knowledge of steel structures, metal fabrication, and building codes.
Familiarity with UBC and IBC codes, with the ability to apply them.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with the ability to inspect insulated walls, roofing, and flooring.
Understanding of TDLR requirements and certification processes is mandatory.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications.
Experience with high and medium voltage structures that are blast-proof and fire-proof.
Knowledge of metal fabrication, welding standards, and quality control procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Experience with data centers or power distribution structures is highly valued.
Background in electrical systems is a strong plus.
Familiarity with PIP standards and hands-on application is preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, involving exposure to medium and high-voltage, blast-proof, and fire-proof structures. The role is set in a collaborative environment with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams, emphasizing a safety-focused culture with regular audits and accountability.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $56.00 / hr.
