Utility Field Technician
The City of Jersey Village is seeking a dedicated Utility Field Technician to join our team. As a front-line representative of the City, this position ensures reliable water and wastewater services for residents and businesses. The Utility Field Technician provides responsive, customer-centered service by investigating and repairing water leaks, addressing meter issues, responding to sewer stoppages, and conducting inspections. This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with residents and team members to maintain safe, dependable utilities for our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to resident service requests, including water leak investigations, meter repairs, and sewer stoppages.
- Perform grease trap (FOG) and customer service inspections to support system efficiency.
- Conduct water leak repairs, particularly within meter boxes, to reduce water loss.
- Complete monthly meter reading duties using AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) and manual methods as needed.
- Maintain water quality by operating valves, flushing hydrants, and reviewing GIS maps.
- Communicate effectively with residents to provide updates and professional customer service.
- Assist with emergency response efforts for water main breaks and sewer line repairs, including after-hours and weekend on-call assignments.
- Accurately document inspections, repairs, and resident interactions for reporting and accountability.
- Support general utility operations, maintenance, and contractor oversight as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.Previous utility, water / wastewater, or maintenance experience preferred.Ability to learn and apply applicable federal, state, and local utility regulations.Strong communication and customer service skills.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Valid Texas driver's license required; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.Willingness to participate in on-call rotation, including weekends and after-hours work.Why Join Jersey Village?
