Summary of Position :

The project engineer designs and drafts food processing and packaging equipment, plant layouts, and parts; this position establishes budgets and timelines for capital projects and manages systems installations.

Functions Performed :

• Designs, redesigns, or modifies required areas and implements changes to resolve problems and improve equipment / systems performance and reliability.
• Prepares completed layouts for final equipment / system design from simple sketches and / or vendor supplied drawings for all company locations.
• Manages new equipment purchases by working closely with vendors to ensure equipment meets manufacturing requirements. Performs equipment Factory Acceptance Tests or other activities related to machine purchases.
• Works with other engineers, managers, and facility staff on design needs.
• Manages internal projects by supporting Maintenance and Fabrication Shop employees involved in new projects and retrofits / upgrades.
• Evaluates production equipment and related systems for optimization.
• Monitors project costs and prepares progress summaries for executive group.
