What You'll Do :

Champion Safety. Ensure that designs meet all applicable safety codes and current best practices. Ensure that final designs are developed in such a manner as to make the construction and operation of the component a safe activity. Work with relevant project, area, or design engineers to ensure that all designs fully comply with the appropriate design and local codes.

Document Standards. Document department standards and best practices for utilization across the division or company. Maintain the department's electronic drawing files.

Design and Develop. Work independently to design and develop detailed drawings. Support the Design Engineers. Provide cost-effective designs to meet project needs. Develop and incorporate design concepts and best practices into your designs.

Collaborate. Work closely with project, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers to ensure coordination of disciplines in the final design effort. Work with project and construction personnel to ensure that construction methods are understood and that projects are completed in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Review. Review work completed by others (internal or external), as applicable, in order to assist colleagues in the engineering department. Review shop drawings as required for outside fabrication.

Maintain Schedules. Assist in the maintenance of construction and modification schedules to ensure accurate and timely completion of drawings.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need :

Education. Technical school training in CAD (Computer Aided Design) is preferred.

Experience. Must have a thorough working knowledge of and experience with 3D AutoCAD or Advanced Steel in a Structural Steel environment. Experience with Vulcan and / or the aggregate industry in a field or design position is preferred.

Technology Skills. Must have CAD skills sufficient to produce designs in 3D AutoCAD. Must have the ability to operate large-format plotters and scanners or demonstrate the ability to learn with minimal training.

Design Skills. Thorough knowledge of design specifications and practices, building codes, and the equipment utilized within the Company's plants is preferred.

Communication Skills. Must have the ability to operate and communicate in a predominantly computer-oriented environment.
