Description :
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients.
The therapist facilitates rehabilitation and promotes independence.
Develops and designs treatment plans for physically, mentally, and emotionally disabled patients.
The Occupational Therapist enhances and improves patients' abilities to gain independence in daily living and working environments.
Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs in hospital settings to help rehabilitate individuals impaired due to illness, injury, or psychological or developmental problems.
Evaluates and establishes patients' physical and mental learning abilities.
Analyzes medical data to determine realistic attainable rehabilitation goals based on patients' disabilities.
Selects educational, recreational, and social activities to help individuals learn work and life-management skills.
Evaluates patients' progress and prepares reports detailing their advancement.
Documents therapy activities and maintains necessary records in patient files.
Assists in the evaluations and rehabilitation of patients' medical and psychiatric conditions by conferring with other disciplines.
Trains and educates caregivers on how to meet patients' needs during and after therapy.
Recommends changes to patients' work or living environments consistent with their needs and capabilities.
Develops and participates in health promotion programs and group activities to promote client health and social adjustment.
Consults with the rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
Plans and implements programs and social activities that help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps.
Attends the clinic biweekly to assist with evaluation and treatment of clinic patients.
Corresponds with insurance companies for approval of adaptive equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
