Summary
Reviews and audits every surgical case to ensure correct documentation, accurate charges, and timely submission. Specifically, review procedure name, recorded times, equipment usage, staffing present and item / implant usage (cross-reference with all Bill Only).
Runs, and reviews, a daily audit report to make sure all cases / charges get processed correctly.
Maintains Excel tracking sheet for cases that need revisions. Keeps this sheet up to date to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Communicates with nursing staff and Surgery Admin team to fix any documentation / billing issues.
Works closely with the Cath Lab and Vascular teams on the Hybrid OR charges. Due to the complexity of these cases, they might require more time to audit and complete.
Generates daily and monthly reports, such as Perfusion billing, Open Heart tracking, etc.
Prepares monthly, and ad hoc, volume “feeder” reports. Ensures that the monthly volume is accurate and consistent among several downstream reports.
Assists with getting new items built in Lawson and Epic to increase billing accuracy and decrease re-work by the hospital billing department.
Keeps paper records in an organized manner for easy retrieval.
Complies with standards of employee conduct as noted in Policy and Procedure No. 45-19.
Inventories and orders forms and office supplies, kitchen utensils.
OTHER DUTIES :
Maintains knowledge of Epic and how to effectively navigate within it.
Participates in quality improvement activities related to patient care / services.
Types and sends / distributes memos / correspondence as indicated by Surgical Services Business Manager
