JOB DESCRIPTION

PATHWAYS TEACHER - HIGH SCHOOL BIOLOGY / PHYSICAL SCIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate science endorsements.

Experience teaching high school-level biology and / or physical science.

Strong understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and experience implementing inquiry-based instruction.

Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative teams and support teacher development.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

The High School Biology / Physical Science Stipend Teacher provides science instructional leadership within the Alternative Pathways Program. This role supports the delivery of high-quality science instruction, focusing on best practices in biology and physical science to meet the diverse needs of students.

REPORTS TO : Pathways Principal

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Collaborate with the Pathways Principal to plan and deliver professional development related to high school biology and physical science instruction.

Lead and facilitate science team meetings within the Alternative Pathways Program, emphasizing curriculum alignment, instructional effectiveness, and student engagement.

Support implementation of evidence-based instructional practices and hands-on learning experiences in alignment with NGSS.

Coordinate the use of curriculum materials, lab resources, and assessments to ensure consistency and effectiveness in science instruction.

Serve as a point of contact for science-related communication within the Alternative Pathways team.

Assist in collecting and analyzing student performance data to guide instructional improvements and targeted interventions.

Provide support and guidance to colleagues in implementing the science curriculum and classroom strategies.

Calendar Days : Schedule :

Between 2 : 20 P.M. - 6 : 20 P.M. (Monday - Thursday). Exact shift to be determined.

Stipend Amount per Semester

5,045.84 (per class; ~ 1 hour per class per day)
