job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas. Collect and store specimens following established procedures and safety standards. Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients. Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and / or butterfly needles. Accurately interpret and follow physicians orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure all information is 100% accurate. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order. Package and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining proper temperature and integrity. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and adhere to all laboratory safety procedures. Attend required departmental training sessions. Answer phone calls and provide laboratory results as needed to address inquiries. Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by the state of employment). Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High school diploma or GED. 0 2 years of relevant experience.
