Job Description The Center for Global Learning at Saint Peter’s University is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable International Student Advisor to join our team. Under the guidance of the Director of the Center, the ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting and assisting international students throughout their academic journey. The International Student Advisor will serve as the main point of contact for admitted international students, handle pre-arrival inquiries, provide guidance on immigration regulations, and assist in the delivery of orientation. Additionally, the Advisor collaborates with the Director on data reporting related to international student enrollment.
Range : $30.22 – $32.97 Duties & Responsibilities
- Acts as a Designated School Official (DSO), primarily responsible for reviewing and processing the initial Form I-20 for incoming students. When required, provides comprehensive support for all facets of SEVIS record management, including tasks such as SEVIS registration, employment authorization, updates, etc.
- Keep abreast of immigration regulations and advise students on matters related to maintenance of legal status, travel, and employment options
- Generate reports and documentation required for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records related to immigration status, academic progress, and personal information.
- Participate in and support programming to help international students acclimate to U.S. cultural and academic environment.
- Assist in the development of orientation materials and presentations; assist with pre-arrival and International Welcome programs and services as needed.
- Foster a sense of community among international students through workshops, events, and support groups.
Qualification Standards
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.Strong cross-cultural communication and / or language ability.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.Familiarity with FERPA regulationsMust be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident in order to meet regulatory requirements as a Designated School Official (DSO)Education
