This position provides assistive care to patients. The incumbent facilitates the efficient delivery of patient care, supports the professional role of the licensed staff, and provides support and assistance as directed by licensed staff in rendering basic healthcare to the patient. This position also assists with clerical functions as a multi-skilled auxiliary worker. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.
Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, reporting patient concerns, performing lab tests, assisting with procedures, monitoring and cleaning patient examination rooms, answering telephones, assisting in routine clerical functions, attending mandatory education, and performing other duties based on department assigned. This position is required to work rotating schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include availability to work variable and rotating shifts, phlebotomy skills, human relation and communication skills, proficiency in the specific clinic's specialty skills, and the ability to withstand physical demands.
Qualifications include current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential, and one of the following : current Advanced EMT certification, current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, current certification to practice as a Paramedic, current certification in ABR-OE, current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant, current certification as a National Certified Medical Assistant, or current Clinical Medical Assistant Certification. Additional license requirements may apply.
Working conditions and physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to infectious diseases, and potential exposure to dangerous contaminants. Physical requirements include color determination, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, near vision, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping, crouching, and walking.
