Salary Range

60,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

We are seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic individual for the Civil Engineering Laboratory Manager position. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and daily operations of the laboratories, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for students, staff, and faculty. The candidate will also facilitate instructional and operational needs across departmental labs. The Lab Manager must have a thorough understanding of laboratory instrumentation and safety protocols. Additionally, a deep understanding of laboratory procedures for various civil engineering labs including : Infrastructure Materials, Structural, Geotechnic, and Hydraulics labs is essential, along with experience in the setup, maintenance, and minor repair of lab equipment.

  • Set up and operate a wide range of laboratory equipment used in Civil Engineering labs, including Infrastructure Materials, Structural, Geotechnical, and Hydraulics laboratories.
  • Able to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Assist faculties in teaching laboratory courses (when needed may be considered faculty of record).
  • Assist faculties in conducting research experiments.
  • Provide training and supervision of staff and students in use of lab equipment.
  • Maintain the lab space, equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Ensure that facilities and equipment are in optimal and proper working condition.
  • Ensure laboratories are in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that certification and training requirements are met for all lab personnel.
  • Know engineering processes related to lab equipment, maintenance, and repair.
  • Perform minor repairs if qualified and as needed.
  • Develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures to support laboratory safety, efficiency and quality control.
  • Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Procurement of materials and parts for teaching

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.

2. Laboratory management experience at the university level.

3. Have the knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and safety practices.

4. Ability to work independently.

5. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to maintain an organized, clean, and safe working environment.

7. Ability to perform general maintenance tasks.

8. Familiarity with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ability to manage laboratories in both areas of Civil and Mechanical engineering.
