Position : Carrier Operations Specialist

Location : Missouri City, TX

Pay : $95,000 to $105,000 / year

Experience :

  • 3–5+ years of experience in transportation or logistics, with direct exposure to parcel / last-mile carrier operations.
  • Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and freight optimization tools.

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).

Type : Full-time; Contract

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 1st Shift

Greene Resources is seeking a Carrier Operations Specialist to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description :

  • Support daily transportation operations to achieve on-time and in-full (OTIF) deliveries.
  • Manage relationships with parcel and last-mile carriers, 3PLs, and freight partners.
  • Assist in negotiating carrier contracts and rates with a focus on cost-per-package optimization.
  • Track KPIs (on-time %, damage / claim rates, cost per mile / shipment) and escalate corrective actions when needed.
  • Analyze shipping trends and help design smarter, more efficient distribution strategies.
  • Use TMS and analytics tools to track shipments, resolve exceptions, and build performance reports.
  • Partner with internal teams (Warehouse, Customer Service, Sales) to align transportation with business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other transportation regulations.
  • Contribute ideas and support sustainability initiatives like fuel efficiency and emissions reduction.
  • Position Requirements :

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of freight modes (parcel, LTL, FTL, intermodal).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certification in logistics / transportation (CLTD, CTL, APICS).
  • Experience with delivery checkout / shipping-rate systems.
  • Exposure to budgeting and P&L.
