We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Contract Review Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of various insurance contracts, agreements, and producing certificates of insurance. Your expertise will help mitigate risks, protect the client’s interests, and ensure that all insurance policies and certificates of insurance are aligned with industry standards and insurance requirements.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Review and assess contracts for compliance with insurance requirements, including auto, general liability, excess, and workers' compensation insurance.
  • Verify insurance coverage meets state-specific regulations and contract requirements, ensuring proper coverage for contractors operating in all states.
  • Ensure certificates maintain adequate insurance levels and provide necessary certificates of insurance.
  • Review liability clauses, indemnity provisions, and risk management strategies to minimize company exposure.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and address and resolve any discrepancies or risks identified in the contract review process.
  • Comply with certificate requirements, such as Waiver of Subrogation, add specific additional Insured policy language, etc.
  • Uploading certificates with several different systems used such as ISNet, Certificial, myCOI, Avetta, etc.

Required Qualifications :

  • 2 years of experience in contract review, risk management, legal compliance, preferably in industries such as construction and commercial insurance.
  • Experience with insurance contracts and an understanding of insurance terms, particularly related to general liability, workers’ compensation, auto, and excess coverage.
  • Understanding of insurance requirements and state-specific regulations related to liability insurance and workers compensation.
  • Familiarity with indemnity clauses, risk management strategies and compliance-related provisions.
  • Knowledge of common industry contract standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in contract management and compliance software (e.g., ISNet, Certificial, myCOI, Avetta).
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with document management systems.
  • Comfort working with digital platforms to upload and track certificates of insurance.
  • Proven track record of spotting and correcting errors or inconsistencies in insurance documents.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a high volume environment.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • The ideal candidate should possess a strong ability to focus on the finer details of contracts and legal documents, ensuring accuracy in compliance with regulations and terms.
  • A capacity for thorough analysis and critical thinking to assess risks, identify discrepancies, and propose necessary modifications to contract terms.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities to interact with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, as well as to clearly explain complex contract details.
  • Ability to address and resolve any issues or risks identified in contract reviews, offering solutions that safeguard the company’s interests while ensuring compliance.
  • Ability to handle multiple contracts, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, maintaining a structured approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort with working across different systems and adjusting to evolving industry regulations or changes in contract requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with other teams, including legal, risk management, and finance, to resolve issues and ensure cohesive contract compliance.
  • Additional Details :

  • The location of the role will be in person in our Grand Rapids, Michigan office
  • Hours for the role is as follows : 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm Monday – Thursday, 8 : 00am – 4 : 30pm Friday (Memorial Day through Labor Day we close at 4 : 00pm on Friday)
  • Reporting relationship will be to Chief of Planning and Operations
