Essential Job Duties

• Compile and prepare commercial regulatory documents for entry processing
• Coordinate and confirm release while operating in compliance of US customs regulations
• Coordinate / assist the release of goods from the carrier, customs or other governmental agency examinations that may be required
• Monitor any independent company designated U.S. Customs brokers to insure that proper declarations are made to U.S. Customs regarding the classification and importation of cargo
• Interface with U.S. Customs and other federal agencies at the local and national level to ensure compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations as directed by the VP of Imports
• Provide consultation to clients on the importation of goods through U.S. Customs, governmental regulations / inspections, changes in import regulations, transportation, bonding / insurance requirements and general industry expertise
• Review and ensure import performance and transit time analysis reports are distributed appropriately
• Provide guidance and training to import staff on client service, processing and managing the flow of essential import documentation including letters of credit, commercial invoice and associated certificates, Country of Origin requirements, and communication and notifications to clients and vendors
• Establish recordkeeping standards (maintained at current site) and oversee file maintenance in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations and company policies
• Ensure that all personnel are providing a high level of client service for the internal and external client
• Utilize superior communications skill to motivate staff, work with sales force and help to develop effective working relationships with peers, executives and clients
• Oversee and manage the professional development and productivity of staff members to ensure proper goals, training, professional development and project requirement are met
• Conduct bi-yearly performance reviews for all staff within the department
• Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications, networking and participating in professional organizations
• Ensure data critical to supply chain initiatives is maintained and updated
• Any and all other responsibilities required for complying with U.S. Customs & Border Protection
• Other duties as assigned
