Your role as a professional nurse will be grounded in the ethical and legal guidelines established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, supported by the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice.

You will enhance patient experiences by establishing therapeutic relationships and integrating cultural competence into your practice. Collaboration is essential, as you will work alongside patients, families, and healthcare teams to respect individual values and preferences.

Responsibilities

  • Standards of Practice : RN practice is guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. This includes :
  • Assessment : Collect and analyze pertinent data related to the patient's health.
  • Diagnosis : Determine actual and potential health issues based on assessment data.
  • Outcomes Identification : Define expected outcomes and tailor care plans accordingly.
  • Planning : Develop and adjust care plans with appropriate strategies and alternatives to reach expected outcomes.
  • Implementation : Deliver the established plan of care.
  • Coordination of Care : Ensure continuity and transitions in care delivery.
  • Health Teaching and Promotion : Advocate for health and safety through effective teaching methods.
  • Evaluation : Continuously assess progress towards health outcomes.
  • Standards of Professional Performance : Competent RN behavior includes :
  • Ethics : Uphold ethical practices in all nursing roles.
  • Culturally Congruent Practice : Embrace cultural diversity in healthcare.
  • Communication : Engage effectively within all practice areas.

Qualifications

Education : Recent graduates from an accredited nursing school. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. BCLS certification is required upon hire or within one month.

Experience : This role serves as the foundational position for all registered nurses, with opportunities for advancement through the SPIRE clinical program.

Licensure : Must possess a current RN license in the State of Connecticut. Specialty certifications are encouraged.

Special Skills : All registered nurses can benefit from clinical advancement opportunities through SPIRE.

Physical Demand : The role requires prolonged standing, walking, and the ability to assist with patient mobility, including lifting up to 300 pounds. Exposure to infectious diseases and various physical and mental health conditions is expected. Adequate physical stamina is essential due to the demands of patient care.
