Salary : $25.00-$27.40 / hour (commensurate with experience)
Title : Family Activity Coordinator
Reports To : Family Services Manager
Purpose : The Family Activity Coordinator works closely with the Family Services Director (FSD) to ensure that families have quality activities available to them while staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The purpose of the Family Activity Coordinator is to plan and carryout leisure activities that provide creative outlets, small group activities and promote fun. Must be able to work late afternoon and evening hours with occasional weekends.
Hours : M-F 12 : 00pm-8 : 30pm
Responsibilities : Guest Relations :
- Develop and facilitate a variety of activities to engage children and families daily. Recognize needs of varying age groups and plan activities accordingly.
- Develop and implement communication pieces pertaining to House activities e.g., monthly calendar of events, weekly reminders, special flyers as needed, electronic monitor and Ronald McDonald House app.
- Schedule and attend periodic offsite outings for guest families.
- Purchase, organize, and maintain supplies and donations needed for activities and programs.
- Maintain Family Activity spaces and storage areas.
- Reach out to families and create an atmosphere of hospitality. Initiate conversations & spontaneous games / activities, participate in House Dinners, foster House and family relations.
- Playrooms, activity room, other communal spaces & outdoor play space management : organize, sanitize, make sure it is stocked with appropriate toys and monitor any toy recalls.
- Promote and maintain programs.
- Promote an atmosphere of warmth and understanding. Demonstrate empathy and an ability to relate to families in crisis.
- Maintain confidentiality concerning personal, financial and medical situations of families, while being sensitive to their needs. Report concerns to the manager on duty.
- Visit guest floors on a regular basis to maintain a sense of House activity and family dynamics.
- Document unique interactions that involve families, volunteers, visitors and staff to maintain up-to-date guest file information and report activity to manager on duty.
Volunteers :
Supervise and orientate volunteers who work directly with the Family Activity Coordinator.Coordinate volunteer activities by providing activity details, daily task lists & volunteer schedules.Community :
Review and schedule suitable activities offered & facilitated by outside groups.House Support :
Collaborate with other departments to evaluate and provide program opportunities.Respond quickly to emergency and crisis situations according to procedures with the help of the manager on duty.Promote positive collegial relationships and provide support to co-workers.Maintain open communication with staff.Perform other duties as needed.Data Entry :
Update activity tracking document daily.Qualifications :
Degree preferred.Experience in the areas of child development, recreation therapy, planning and implementing leisure, social and family activities.Natural ability to demonstrate a caring attitude towards guests, donors, volunteers and people who come into contact with the House.Self-starter, ability to work independently and as a team member.Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products and comfortable with a wide range of technology.Excellent communication (oral and written), organization and time management skills.Working Conditions :
Position is full-time with primary hours falling during stated business hours. Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed, according to the needs of the organization.Position requires walking, standing, and sitting. Some lifting may be required.Ability to access all areas of the House and grounds, including going up and down stairs.Potential limited travel for regional and / or national conferences, professional development on occasion.The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to access toys, office equipment, storage areas, conference room, etc.
