Automation Engineer Portage MI

Salary Range : $81000 - $126000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Portage that are seeking Automation Engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Design develop and implement industrial automation solutions using PLCs HMIs and SCADA systems.
  • Program configure and optimize industrial robots for various manufacturing processes.
  • Perform troubleshooting diagnosis and repair of automated machinery and control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production maintenance and engineering teams to identify and execute automation improvements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation systems and processes.
  • Ensure all automated equipment and control systems comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the commissioning validation and continuous improvement of new and existing automation equipment.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g. Rockwell Siemens) and HMI / SCADA system development.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial robotics (e.g. Fanuc Kuka ABB) for integration and programming.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g. Ethernet / IP Profinet Modbus).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot diagnose and repair complex automation systems and controls.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to design and implement automated solutions for efficiency and quality.

    • Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Python Power BI) for OEE and process optimization.
  • Experience with industrial machine vision systems (e.g. Cognex Keyence).
  • Familiarity with Industrial IoT (IIoT) platforms and data integration strategies.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD software for automation cell layout or fixture design.
