Must pass ELDT on-line course unless you already possess a CDL and necessary endorsements. Must have a minimum of a Temporary Instruction Permit for commercial driver’s license from the Secretary of State with ‘P’ (Passenger) and ‘S’ (School Bus) endorsements. Must eventually possess a commercial driver’s license. Passing a medical exam is required to obtain a CDL license. Requires excellent attendance and driving record. Competitive wages starting at $23.54 hour Regular Route Drivers. $500.00 sign-on bonus

Position Description
Title : Regular Route Bus Driver
Location : District Wide
Reports to : Carla Perrien, Transportation Director
Opportunity :
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Transportation, the bus driver provides safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.
Duties and Responsibilities :
The bus driver reports directly to the Director of Transportation for the performance of the following assigned duties and responsibilities :
- Exhibit safe driving habits at all times and operate the bus with safety of the passengers as the primary concern.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of the bus before each run.
- Report all mechanical problems to the mechanic and cooperate with the mechanic in the diagnosis and prevention of mechanical problems.
- Maintain records as required, including but not limited to the following : driver log, mileage log, bus rider lists.
- Report all accidents to the Transportation Director and cooperate with the investigation of such accidents.
- Be responsible for the discipline of students on the bus, and shall cooperate with building administrators and the Transportation Director in resolving discipline problems.
- Promote positive public relations with students, parents and other school personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality for all school-related information.
- Assist students in the loading and unloading process.
- Monitor student behavior while in transit and remain alert to the welfare of students.
- Attend meetings and conduct emergency drills as required by the Transportation Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Superintendent.
