Job Title : Electrical Controls Technician Industrial Manufacturing
Location : Charleston, SC - on a rotating 12-hour swing shift schedule
Overview :
We are in need of an experienced Electrical Controls Technician to assist with proactive and corrective maintenance in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting. The perfect candidate will have practical experience working with electrical motors, controls, and PLC systems, as well as a demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues to ensure smooth and safe production operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality.
Inspecting, servicing, and repairing motor control systems operating at low and medium voltage levels (
Troubleshooting and servicing motor drive systems (specifically Siemens and Rockwell families).
Utilizing PLC interfaces for diagnostics and equipment troubleshooting.
Aiding in the installation, startup, and commissioning process for new equipment.
Keeping detailed records of all maintenance activities.
Contributing to the development and enforcement of safety and operational protocols, including job safety analyses (JSAs).
Requirements :
An associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology, equivalent military electronics training, or a high school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant maintenance and repair experience.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in troubleshooting electrical motors and controls.
Hands-on experience with PLC diagnostics within an industrial environment.
The ability to comprehend and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with NFPA 70E / NEC safety guidelines.
Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
Physically fit and capable of performing tasks in a manufacturing environment (e.g., climbing, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs, working in high-temperature conditions).
Preferred Qualifications :
At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing involving automation, calibrated instrumentation, and PLC interfaces.
Knowledge of PLC logic, industrial automation & control systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
History of successfully troubleshooting technical equipment and instrumentation.
Capability to operate forklifts and aerial lifts safely and competently when required.
