The Benicia Public Library is seeking candidates who are adept at multitasking and who are passionate about contributing to the day-to-day operations of the library for the Library Aide position.The Library Aide role is a major contributor to keeping our library running smoothly and is a vital part to the library's team. This position fulfills hold requests for patrons, completes incoming deliveries from other libraries, processes returned library materials, and completes other tasks as needed.
The Library is looking to fill at least (1) position and build an eligibility list. Currently the department needs coverage on Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 10 : 00 AM - 2 : 00 PM or 2 : 00 PM - 6 : 00 PM , and / or additional weekdays (coverage needs are is subject to change).
The Library Aide position is an at-will, part time position, and does not receive any insurance benefits.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Under close supervision, performs a variety of manual labor tasks, most specifically returning library materials to their proper location in proper alpha / numeric order in the library; performs related duties as required.
This one-position class is designed to accomplish necessary and useful paraprofessional work in a library. This class is distinguished from the class of Departmental Aide in that the latter involves a greater variety of clerical functions.
