Hospital Performance Strategist

DonorConnect is seeking a full-time Hospital Performance Strategist. The Hospital Performance Strategist is responsible for advancing hospital-based organ and tissue donation outcomes through the facilitation of data-driven continuous improvement initiatives at DonorConnect. Reporting to the Manager of Continuous Improvement (CI), this role collaborates with and provides strategic support to the Professional Education / Hospital Services (HD) department through a Continuous Improvement framework. The Strategist leverages hospital performance data and root cause analyses to assess performance, identify barriers to donation, and design targeted strategies to improve key metrics. Drawing on expertise in performance improvement, the Hospital Performance Strategist plays a central role in facilitating the development of hospital strategic plans and supporting the advancement of improvement initiatives. Utilizing established tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA), the position contributes to enhancing operational workflows, ensuring regulatory alignment, and improving the overall quality of hospital-based donation practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Training / Education / Certification :

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, and / or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and / or portfolio demonstrating application of process improvement methodologies and tools.

Experience Required :

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a clinical, hospital liaison, and / or process improvement role in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with developing hospitals under the CMS final rule conditions of participation within the OPO setting required
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools is preferred
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools is preferred
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects in both virtual and in-person environments, with favorable outcomes driven by strong project management, time management, and team collaboration skills.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing (e.g., SOPs), presentation delivery, facilitation of continuous improvement initiatives, and the ability to communicate complex medical or technical information in accessible terms.
  • Applies performance improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA) and interprets relevant data and statistics to enhance operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and donation-related practices.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of organ and tissue donation practices, including regulatory frameworks such as CMS, Joint Commission, etc. and effectively incorporates these into process development.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, sound decision-making, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced, high-stakes environments with competing priorities.
  • Skilled at interpreting and implementing procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, certifications, and accreditation requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, with the ability to work independently or in a team setting, maintain discretion, and foster collaborative and respectful communication.
  • Advanced knowledge of personal computers with superior skills in desktop programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Visio, PowerPoint, and other comparable software programs)
  • Exercises high levels of judgment and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information and supports a culture of trust and accountability.
  • Demonstrates physical ability to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally move items up to 10 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
