We are looking for a Senior Staff Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team in one of todays most exciting technologies. This role will be based in San Jose CA

This is a fully on-site in office role.

Role and Responsibilities

• Obtain parts from field returns for failure analysis and perform investigation of the operating conditions in the field and understand the cause of the failures.
• Make a plan to perform systematic tear down and measurement to understand the root cause.
• Ensure priority is given to fast-track FA for critical parts.
• Document the failure analysis results in detail including word description pictures measurements etc. as evidence to the results and conclusions.
• Work with in-house engineers or quality personnel to utilize equipment to perform the failure analysis.
• Utilize 3rd party labs as necessary for analysis that Bloom does not have inhouse capability.
• Work cross functionally with Service Install Quality Reliability SQE and Logistics to address failures expeditiously
• Work cross functionally with Factory Design Install Quality SQE to mitigate and prevent failures
• Build lessons learned into the next generation products
• Create metrics to measure failed parts and turn around times for FA.
• Determine the sampling plan for failed parts when repetitive symptoms are indicating a known problem.
• Work with Engineering to turn on and turn off the failure modes in testing.
• Work with controls team and the data analytics team to add detection of early symptoms of field issues that are happening after some time in the field.
• Work with Engineering to improve self diagnostics of products to annunciate their potential failures based on changes in self monitored values
• Work with Fleet Analytics leader to inform of potential failure modes and symptoms that may be indicative so proactive sweeps can be done.
