Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Control Specialist to join our team. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of inventory across all storage areas. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in inventory control within the electrical distribution industry , with hands-on knowledge of electrical products such as conduit, wire, fittings, and control devices.
This position requires an individual with strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse and distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate physical inventory counts and reconcile with system records to ensure real-time inventory accuracy.
Maintain proper location tracking of inventory across primary, secondary, and tertiary storage areas using the ERP system.
Lead inventory consolidation efforts to reduce variances and enhance warehouse space utilization.
Execute routine and ad hoc cycle counts in accordance with company policy and management direction.
Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
Optimize bin location strategies to improve order picking accuracy and overall operational efficiency.
Coordinate closely with sales, operations, and centralized inventory teams to ensure data integrity and alignment across departments.
Utilize Excel and ERP software (preferably P21 ) to maintain and report on inventory metrics.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety protocols.
Perform additional warehouse or administrative duties as assigned.
Available to work mandatory overtime based on operational needs.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in inventory control, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in a distribution environment .
Direct experience with electrical distribution products is highly preferred.
Strong familiarity with industry-specific items such as wire, conduit, breakers, panels, switches, and other electrical components.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP software systems; experience with P21 (Prophet 21) is a plus.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively across departments and work collaboratively in a team setting.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with shifting priorities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include direct supervisory duties.
Physical Demands
Frequently required to lift or pull objects up to 30 pounds.
Regular walking and standing on concrete or uneven warehouse surfaces.
Climbing ladders or truck platforms and operating equipment such as wire cutting machines and forklifts .
Repetitive use of hands; kneeling, bending, reaching, and other physical motions.
Working Conditions
Split between office and warehouse environments .
Exposure to fluctuating temperatures, warehouse noise, and dust is expected.
