Job Description
General Responsibilities :
Provide archaeological services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include conducting field work, identifying artifacts, laboratory analysis, writing reports, preparing proposals, and consulting with clients and stakeholders.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities :
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices.
- Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
- Responsible for providing consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
- Principal Archaeologist providing guidance and support to projects and people.
- Oversee project permits, risk, timeline and budget.
- Senior level scientific professional responsible for leading complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques.
- Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports and treatment plans.
- Assist in establishing and updating current policies / procedures for technical projects in field of expertise, to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.
- Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff.
- Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.
- Mastery of local, state and federal Cultural Resource Management requirements to ensure requirements of each entity are met.
- Participate as member of the Archaeology practice resource group (PRG).
- Participate in professional organizations and conferences as a Terracon and industry recognized expert.
- Pursue new project opportunities as the main contact for clients.
- Primary Terracon contact with stakeholders, agencies, tribal representatives, and other interested parties.
- Serves as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Requirements :
Graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field (MA, MS, PhD) and a minimum of 15 years of experience.Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualified.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) CertificationTerracon Authorized Project Reviewer status required
