Intern- School Program

Location : Detroit, MI

Degrees typically hired by DTE for the Internship, include, but are not limited to : Engineering (all types), Science (all types), English, IT Related, Communication, Business Admin / Mgt, Accounting / Finance, Math / Stats, Construction Mgt, Media Arts related, Human Resources, Marketing, Economics, Undeclared Majors, etc.

  • This is an unpaid internship.

Key Accountabilities

Students in this role will :

  • Gain a deep understanding of DTE's operations, business model and key initiatives.
  • Produce clear, useful, and value-added work product to support business unit with various assignments and projects.
  • Gain real hands-on professional work experience
  • Acquire a new network of professional contacts
  • Gain a new / enhanced set of soft business skills
  • Have a successful summer experience and desire to come back and work for DTE
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
  • Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

    Pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

  • Must be an active student status. Students who graduate from college, prior to starting work, are not eligible for the program.
  • College students will be asked to provide an official transcript as proof of eligibility prior to receiving an offer letter of employment.
  • Some positions might require driving. Those positions will require the student to have a valid driver's license, a reliable means of transportation and an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and email etiquette
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to professionally and confidently interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Possession of excellent organizational, follow-up, and follow through skills
  • Knowledge of business correspondence, English, spelling, basic accounting and grammar
  • Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain confidential and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers and management
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a welcoming, cooperative and supportive demeanor
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
  • Other Qualifications

    Preferred :

  • Possesses a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to handle sensitive / confidential information
  • Other Requirements :

    Possesses good organizational skills, demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people at all levels and be safety conscious at all times
