JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Performance Management Teacher Evaluations oversees the implementation and meaningful execution of HISD's evaluation system for teachers, the Teacher Excellence System (TES). This role is responsible for ensuring the system is
effectively deployed maintained and aligned with organizational goals to enhance employee performance and development, this includes designing and maintaining systems or processes in which teacher performance data is collected, validated, processed, and distributed. The Director believes in continuous improvement and applies the belief in the service of HISD stakeholders, recognizing effective evaluation systems are a key driver in continuous improvement. The Director's ultimate goal is to ensure the Performance Management team is the premiere source of accurate and timely qualitative and quantitative data that empowers HISD to better support, develop, retain, and reward teachers.
The Director will engage in strategic leadership and management planning on behalf of the department. This position requires a combination of strategic thinking strong leadership skills and the ability to drive results The Director is responsible for setting departmental sub-goals / milestones. developing and implementing effective strategy. and ensuring efficiency and effective
execution of programs and initiatives Additionally, The Director is responsible for fostering and maintaining a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Ensuring each member of the team internalizes the impact of their work and is successfully coached and developed to help the larger performance management team meet its goals.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and implement departmental strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
2. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs, projects, and initiatives within the department.
3. Lead and mentor a team of professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance management.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective coordination of effort.

5. Monitor and evaluate departmental performance against established goals and metrics, implementing corrective measures when necessary.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a similar industry or organization.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages. Accomplishes the majority of work objectives through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day direction to staff; may become directly involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures. Receives assignments in the form of objectives, with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides input for hiring, performance and budget.

Work is non-standardized and widely varied, involving many complex and significant variables including significant time spent planning, evaluating complex solutions and issues, and negotiating outcomes. Strong analytic ability and inductive thinking are frequently required to devise new approaches to situations where previously accepted solutions have proven inadequate. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the division. Supervision received typically consists of providing periodic coaching, advice, and feedback.

Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and / or significant project delays.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS
Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across HISD. Job is frequently expected to recommend new solutions to problems, to improve existing methods / procedures / services and generate new ideas. May also review decisions made by other individuals on more routine matters.
COMMUNICATION / INTERACTIONS
Negotiate and influence - interpret department strategies and services, resolves conflicts, influences outcomes on matters of significance for the division, conducts final negotiations and coordinates approvals / decision making below the executive level. Interactions are typically with customers and Top Management.

Regularly assesses and diffuses complex, and escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for solving systemic customer service problems. Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting the needs of the customer within HISD's policies and guidelines.
WORKING / ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
