SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION :

Are you interested in joining one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country? If so, we're currently seeking a Linux Engineer II to become part of our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing Linux system build and operations support for RHEL / OEL / CentOS based distributions. Experience with Puppet / Satellite or related configuration management tools is preferred. Additionally, support of Linux-based servers and applications is a requirement for this position.

We are looking for individuals with experience configuring LDAP, DNS, networking, storage, services, and logging. Candidates should possess the ability to collaborate closely with developers, data scientists, and platform users to assess needs and develop innovative and / or custom technology solutions. An understanding of customer processes and a willingness to work collaboratively to produce solutions are essential qualities for this role.

Moreover, this position will involve supporting containerized workloads running on compute servers containing NVIDIA GPUs, so any experience in this area would be highly preferred. Knowledge of system design, job scheduling, and data management would also be applicable and beneficial to this position. REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

  • Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new and enhanced application requests.
  • Identify the appropriate resources needed to complete small projects.
  • Support communication between internal and external parties on project-related issues and developments.
  • Develop and manage project plans.
  • Determine the scope and complexity of small to mid-sized projects.
  • Work with cross-functional teams.

Analysis

  • Analyze, design, implement, and maintain moderately complex systems that greatly improve clinical care and patient management.
  • Support system testing and document testing outcomes.
  • Work to develop technical solutions.
  • Design, write, and prepare complete user and technical documentation.
  • Analyze existing documentation and provide corrections and enhancements.
  • Utilize development lifecycle process, operating procedures, and documentation to implement and support system solutions.
  • Technical Support

  • Provide technical support and problem resolution assistance for production and process issues.
  • Troubleshoot and decipher error messages.
  • Identify required resources to resolve minor to mid-sized issues.
  • Utilize appropriate Change Control methods to implement system solutions.
  • Serve as a resource person and liaison between Cincinnati Children's departments and Information Services.
  • Support departmental efforts to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate and monitor system performance and functionality to avoid potential issues and gather information for future development needs or feasibility studies.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation and handle incident resolution, problem determination, and resolution during that time.
  • Customer Support

  • Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided, including ongoing monitoring of Service Level Agreements for incident management and collaboration with other areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support.
  • Adhere to and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures.
  • Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers.
  • Maintain CCHMC's service standards of being Courteous, Attentive, Respectful, and Enthusiastic team members, and Safe (CARES).
  • Knowledge Development

  • Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross-training, literature, and attendance at department meetings and vendor education.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships, both internal and external to CCHMC.
  • Motivate people and encourage teamwork.
  • Work well with others and foster a positive team environment.
  • Prepare oral and written presentations.
  • Conduct and participate in instructional seminars.
  • Develop expertise in several Cincinnati Children's computer-based systems.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • RHEL-based system administration
  • TCP / IP and networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP)
  • Scripting (bash and / or python)
  • Preferred :

  • Docker / container knowledge
  • Kubernetes (Rancher) exposure
  • Unique Skills

  • AI or Machine Learning knowledge
  • Experience with NVIDIA GPUs and related toolsets
