Description
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and CriticalCare Medicine is seeking a Pulmonary and Critical Care Division Chief with a strong background in basic or clinical sciences and clinical management. The Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care will be a member of the senior leadership of the Department of Internal Medicine reporting directly to the Chairman of Internal Medicine. The primary responsibilities will be to direct the research, clinical and teaching activities of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. The chief will be responsible for ensuring appropriate oversight of all aspects of the Pulmonary & critical care clinical practice. They will oversee educational activities including the specialty specific education of the Internal Medicine Residents and medical students and the Divisional Fellowship Programs. The positions will also be responsible for the oversight and growth in the Division's research portfolio. The candidate will be expected to have extramural grant funding to support his research effort; with the department covering any salary over the cap.
Qualifications
Applicant must have an M.D. or M.D. / Ph.D. degree from an approved LCME medical school and satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary / Critical Care fellowship from an ACGME accredited program. Candidate must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and board certified / eligible in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care.
