Manufacturing Engineer : Rockford, IL
Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency. This role is ideal for an analytical problem solver with a background in machining and a passion for continuous improvement. The Manufacturing Engineer will lead projects, analyze data, and implement best practices to ensure high-quality production and streamlined operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage process optimization and continuous improvement projects from concept to completion
- Conduct time and process studies, evaluate machine capabilities, and recommend efficiency enhancements
- Develop and maintain production routes for all relevant manufacturing items
- Ensure processes meet quality standards (APQP, PPAP, metallurgical specs)
- Collaborate with Quality Control to refine in-process inspections and maintain product integrity
- Work alongside engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot machining and assembly processes
- Identify and implement tooling solutions to maximize efficiency and reduce costs
- Participate in capital expenditure planning for new equipment and process improvements
- Optimize plant layouts to enhance workflow and improve space utilization
- Assist with the ISO 9001 compliance audit process and risk assessments for equipment reliability
- Support efforts to minimize scrap, improve setup times, and streamline production flow
Skills & Experience :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering OR equivalent combination of education & technical experience, requiredExperience : 3+ years in manufacturing, requiredKnowledge : Through-feed grinding, roll forming, induction heat treatment & CNC programming, strongly preferredSoftware : 3D modeling & 2D drawing experience in CAD systems, requiredFamiliarity : workstation design, assembly tools, fixtures, & Kanban systems, strongly preferredWhat W e Offer :
