Plumbing Inspector II
This position performs a variety of routine and complex technical work in inspection and enforcement to determine compliance with all applicable ordinances as well as accepted standards relating to plumbing installations throughout the City. The employee exercises considerable initiative and independent judgment under the general direction of a supervisor.
Job duties and responsibilities include :
- Serving as Chief Plumbing Inspector in his absence.
- Inspecting job sites for adherence with approved plans.
- Reviewing construction documents for compliance with Florida Building Code, City regulations, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Discussing any necessary modification or changes with contractor or owner.
- Checking each project for defects, omissions, and other departures from correct procedure.
- Giving suggestions and recommendations to contractor or owner.
- Ensuring that all plumbing work conforms to National, State, and applicable codes and standards.
- Investigating complaints of violations of the Plumbing Code or illegal plumbing practices.
- Notifying responsible person of defects and issuing verbal or written instructions for corrections.
- Conducting re-inspections.
- Reporting violations and occasionally representing the City at court hearings.
- Consulting with contractors or other interested parties and explaining or interpreting plumbing standards in code.
- Performing inspections and preparing inspection reports.
- Handling correspondence and performing general office work in connection with inspections and plan review.
- Inspecting major and minor repairs, plumbing installed above and below the ground including, but not limited to, septic tanks and drainage fields, dry wells, soakage pits, grease interceptors, water piping, and waste lines.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.Must be certified as a Plumbing Inspector and as a Plumbing Plans Examiner by the Board of Rules and Appeals per Miami-Dade Code Chapter 8 and have one of the following : At least five years of field experience as a Certified Master Plumber issued by the Miami-Dade County Construction Trades Qualifying Board; or At least five years of field experience as a state Certified Plumbing Contractor issued by the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board.Or A Florida Licensed Professional Engineer having obtained a license pursuant to examination in the mechanical discipline and having had five years of field experience under that license.Valid Florida Driver's License.Benefits :
