This Opportunity :

Job Summary : The Engineering Intern will provide support for the Camas (Washington) office of Certerra technical staff, while learning about the engineering field. This role will support the geotechnical and construction quality assurance teams by providing support for (or directly performing, if appropriate) field and laboratory testing. Typical technical work duties will include performing laboratory testing under the direct supervision of Certerra staff, providing field sampling / testing support for Certerra staff, sample pick-up / transport, or other general office tasks in support of Certerra geotechnical engineering projects. In addition to the technical duties, to gain a comprehensive overview of the engineering profession the Engineering Intern will : shadow and / or interview Certerra professional staff, review Certerra project deliverables (e.g., design documents, technical reports, field reports), gain familiarity with common applicable engineering design software, and review professional journals / documents. The Engineering Intern will also have the opportunity to interface with professionals outside of Certerra in various engineering disciplines, such as architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, and construction engineers / managers.

Duties (Paid) :

  • Provide support for laboratory testing and independently perform laboratory testing when sufficiently trained.
  • Provide field support for staff performing construction inspections and geotechnical investigations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, geologists, field staff, and laboratory staff to provide field and office support, as needed
  • Provide office support (e.g., data entry) for data collection, data management, and record-keeping.
  • Perform business support tasks, such as office / laboratory organization, errands, etc.

Duties (Unpaid) :

  • To gain a comprehensive overview of the engineering profession, the Engineering Intern may :
  • Shadow and / or interview Certerra professional staff.

  • Review Certerra project deliverables (e.g., design documents, technical reports, field reports).
  • Review professional journals / documents
  • Become familiar with common applicable engineering design software
  • Interface with professionals outside of Certerra in various engineering disciplines, such as architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, and construction engineers / managers
  • Education / Qualifications :

  • Enrollment in a High School college preparatory program.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently, in and out of the office, for extended periods.
  • Certifications / Licenses :

  • Ability to achieve Nuclear Gauge Certification (training provided).
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (required)
