JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION : Administers nursing care to designated patients under the direction / supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in accordance with the needs of the age population served as defined in the department's scope of care.

JOB FUNCTIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to :

1. Performs patient care according to standards of care and the needs of the patient.

2. Collects data essential to R.N. Assessment and reports deviations from normal to the R.N.

3. Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient's medical treatment.

4. Performs all other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2 years recent Acute Care experience preferred.

SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Current Louisiana LPN licensure

HIPAA REQUIREMENTS :

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to : Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, medical records related to quality / data, patient financial information, patient billing 3rd party, patient related complaints, information related to patient location, and / or patients' religious beliefs.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS :

Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to : Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, administers medications, validates patients for any procedures / surgery, transports, monitors and observes patients with infusion pump, monitors clinical alarms, and collects blood samples.
