Accounting Assistant

We are looking for a skilled Accounting Assistant to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and efficient accounting department. The ideal candidate will excel in accounts payable processes and demonstrate attention to detail while supporting various financial and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities :

Process daily accounts payable entries with accuracy and ensure proper documentation.

Reconcile vendor accounts and credit card statements to maintain financial accuracy.

Assist with contract closings, job information sheets, and pre-qualification tasks related to accounts receivable.

Deliver excellent customer service by performing duties in the City Service Department, including handling receivables, statements, and customer information sheets.

Manage invoicing processes and support bank and account reconciliations.

Utilize Excel and Word effectively to complete accounting tasks and reports.

Handle incoming messages with precision, ensuring proper documentation of names, companies, and requests.

Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the accounting team.

Requirements :

Proficiency in accounts payable processes, including coding and processing invoices.

Strong skills in Excel and Word for financial reporting and administrative tasks.

Experience with bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.

Ability to handle check runs and manage invoice coding efficiently.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Familiarity with foundation accounting principles is highly desirable.

Capability to adapt quickly and contribute to a team of accounting professionals.

Prior experience in customer service or administrative roles is a plus.
