This position involves working in the build, implementation, and maintenance of automation and technology to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems, and the medication use process. The specialist will focus on the medication process, from ordering to administration, and be responsible for effective process design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and Clinical Decision Support. The role supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as a resource for requests related to EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions.
Responsibilities :
- Develop, design, implement, maintain, and evaluate pharmacy information technology and automation functionalities to ensure compliance and adherence to accepted standards of pharmacy practice.
- Coordinate with information systems to resolve issues and re-design processes when necessary. Participate in meetings with department, hospital, and corporate committees related to pharmacy information system issues.
- Maintain computer databases supporting record keeping and patient charge functionality. Assist in audits related to medication therapy and pharmacy patient charges.
- Coordinate orientation and training of hospital staff on pharmacy computer and automation systems.
- Collaborate with the department director to develop short and long-term plans and priorities, and assist in budgeting for information systems projects.
Required qualifications :
Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.Registered pharmacist in Michigan or eligible for licensure.Knowledge and experience with pharmacy computer systems and automated medication dispensing systems.Preferred qualifications :
Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred.Three to five years of pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital setting.Additional details include full-time schedule, working hours from 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, and on-call responsibilities. The position is based in Detroit, MI, with a salary range of $100,000 to $120,000.
