Description

SAIC is looking for a talented Network Engineer Principal to provide communications and networking systems engineering support to the Automated Digital Networking System (ADNS) program, based ONSITE in Norfolk, VA . The successful candidate will design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data, voice, and / or audio communication activities. You will also provide communications systems engineering support for various U / VHF radio communications systems, Common Data Link (CDL) systems, and commercial / government satellite communications systems and networks.

JOB DUTIES :

  • Perform system hardware / software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities following established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the system is operational and available within specified customer timeframes.
  • Configure systems according to the Program's Configuration and Data Management Plans.
  • Prepare analyses of short / long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission, and signaling.
  • Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies, and perform internal studies of network performance and traffic.
  • Evaluate new technology for potential implementation.
  • Provide detailed specifications and schematics for network architecture, including hardware / software selection, to meet business needs for current and future capacity requirements.
  • Conduct testing of network systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain technical expertise in networking and computer hardware / software interconnection and interfacing (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways).
  • Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, with nine (9) years of experience in Configuration Management and Network Administration in a Department of Defense (DoD) setting. Years of experience in lieu of degree will be taken into consideration.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a TS / SCI clearance to start.
  • Security+ Certification (other higher level security certifications acceptable).
  • Ability to obtain relevant OS / CE certification for Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) compliance (e.g., CCNA, Linux+) within 6 months of hire.
  • DESIRED SKILLS :

  • Hands-on experience with operating systems and network hardware related to ADNS and its supporting systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Tactical Data Links, Military Communications, DoD Networks, Global Information Grid (GIG), Common Data Link (CDL), Link 16, and Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).
  • Windows and Linux system administration skills.
  • Expertise in network routing & switching systems (e.g., switches, routers).
  • Experience with TACLANES and other Communications Security (COMSEC) devices.
  • Experience with Triton unmanned vehicle program.
  • Knowledge in network defense systems (e.g., firewalls, IDS, IPS).
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent level of Cisco certification.
  • Experience with Linux Red Hat versions 5, 6, 7, and 8.
  • Experience in a VMware environment.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies of military data communications.
