Job Summary :

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for an Intelligence Analyst position to join our Inspector General Division. The role of an Intelligence Analyst includes performing detailed research and analysis of criminal intelligence information as well as obtaining and analyzing intelligence in order to develop links and patterns of criminal activity. This role also involves collecting and compiling criminal intelligence information and statistics to generate intelligence data for support in investigations through personal contact, manipulation and query of database systems, and reading and recording various intelligence, analytical and administrative information.

Job Duties :

  • Researches, analyzes, evaluates and correlates criminal intelligence information in order to determine source reliability, content validity and potential truthfulness
  • Develops investigative leads and links
  • Distinguishes patterns and trends
  • Enters data, reports or records of criminal intelligence information into a database for use and reference by analysts and investigators in support of investigations
  • Prepares and presents detailed graphical presentations and briefings to share organized facts and statistics, and criminal intelligence analyses with executive level administration, case detectives, and other law enforcement agencies
  • Assesses or determines intelligence information requirements or needs in order to recommend, plan, prioritize and implement collection plans, targets or case strategies
  • Acts as a liaison with internal and external groups / individuals to provide analytical assistance, collect and / or disseminate intelligence data, and share resource sources
  • Organizes and maintains sensitive, non-sensitive and open-source case data and / or files into logical, concise and understandable order for retrieval if further analysis is needed
  • Assists in the design, testing and / or maintenance of operational databases, analytical software, hardware and peripheral equipment to enhance the quality of work product, improve productivity and ensure equipment is functioning properly
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) :

Knowledge of :

  • ADCRR policies and procedures
  • Analytical techniques normally employed in the development and dissemination of intelligence information
  • Research, investigation and analytical practices employed in the acquisition and dissemination of criminal intelligence information
  • Techniques required to produce intelligence reports in an appropriate format, link charts, association matrices, intelligence bulletins, other specialized reports and graphic presentations
  • Operational analysis and decision-making techniques for resource allocation and organizational effectiveness
  • Skill in :

  • Researching, gathering, organizing and analyzing data and drawing logical conclusions
  • Identifying problems, analyzing alternatives and making viable recommendations
  • Interviewing, listening or documenting information to obtain input from diverse sources
  • Editing and proofreading written materials for accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Ability to :

  • Exercise sound judgment in safeguarding / disseminating confidential or sensitive information
  • Perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Comprehend and follow complex written or oral directions / instructions
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Interpret complex information
  • Selective Preference(s) :

    Two (2) years of research or analysis identifying trends or patterns, or intelligence-oriented experience

    Pre-Employment Requirements :

    Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

    In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

    If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) ).

    Retirement :

    Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
