Major Responsibilities :

  • Maintain a clean and efficient operating room, using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
  • Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures, including managing sterile fields and anticipating the needs of surgeons.
  • Assist in positioning patients and transporting them safely.
  • Monitor equipment and supply levels, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Function as a Second Assistant when necessary and help maintain the environmental safety of the operating room.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to provide patient care effectively.

    • Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within six months.

    • Education Required :

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

    • Experience Required :

  • No prior experience required.

    • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and surgical equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

    • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Must be able to lift and transport patients and equipment effectively.
  • Exposure to various hazards; proper safety equipment must be worn.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, and twist frequently during shifts.
